StoneBorn Creations Greenstone Matched Pair – Deep Green Core Hand Polished Faces

This is exactly why I love cutting into stones that don’t look like much from the outside.

This natural greenstone was cut into two matching halves, revealing an incredible dark green interior surrounded by a completely different pale green outer zone. I hand polished the cut faces while leaving the backs and outer edges natural, preserving the contrast between what the stone looked like originally and what was hidden inside.

The center transitions from deep forest green into areas that appear nearly black, with scattered lighter mineral inclusions throughout. Moving outward, the color fades into a soft mint-to-gray green with tan mineral patches and dark, almost web-like markings.

Both pieces came from the same original stone and are being sold together as a matched pair.

The StoneBorn Story:

I would’ve never guessed this was hiding inside from looking at the outside.

The original stone is mostly pale, weathered and fairly unassuming. Once I opened it up, though, both halves revealed these incredibly dark green centers surrounded by a much lighter green outer zone.

Instead of shaping everything away, I kept the natural forms and polished only the exposed faces. That lets you see both sides of the story — the weathered stone I started with and the completely different geology that was hiding underneath.

Pieces like this are exactly why I’ll probably never get tired of cutting rocks open.
