A beautiful matching pair of natural stones featuring deep forest green interiors surrounded by warm golden-tan borders, with delicate black mineral markings and a striking white vein running through one half.

What makes this pair so interesting is the contrast between the outside and what was hiding beneath the surface. The original stones had a fairly ordinary, weathered gray exterior, but once opened, they revealed these rich green centers with patterns that almost look like natural artwork.

Both interior faces have been carefully hand-polished to highlight their colors and intricate details, while the backs remain completely natural and untouched.

The golden outer borders frame the darker interiors beautifully, giving each half its own character while still maintaining that unmistakable connection between the two pieces.

Together, they make a unique display set that captures the beauty of what nature can create beneath the surface.

The StoneBorn Story:

This was another great example of why I love seeing what’s hiding inside the rocks I come across.

Looking at the outside, there wasn’t much that would have made you think these colors were waiting underneath. Just a weathered, grayish-tan stone with a few darker mineral spots scattered throughout.

But opening it up revealed something completely different.

The first thing that caught my attention was that deep green center surrounded by the golden-colored outer material. The contrast was beautiful, especially with all those fine black markings running through the stone.

One half even has a white mineral vein cutting across the darker green, which adds another interesting detail to the pair.

I worked through the grinding and smoothing stages before bringing both interior faces to their final polish, keeping the natural shapes and original outer edges intact.

I also left the backs untouched so you can still see exactly what these stones looked like before they were opened.

That’s probably my favorite part about working with natural stone. You never really know what you’re going to find until you get beneath the surface.
