StoneBorn Creations Hand-Polished Lace Agate Freeform with Curved Polished Face, Fortification Banding, and Natural Raw Backing

This striking lace agate was carefully shaped and polished by hand to highlight one of the most intricate banded patterns I’ve worked with. Rich crimson reds, deep burgundy tones, smoky grays, and translucent chalcedony layers flow across the polished face in classic fortification-style banding that seems to draw you deeper the longer you look.

Rather than fully polishing the entire stone, I chose to create a smooth curved display face while leaving the backside natural and untouched. The contrast between the polished agate and raw host material tells the story of where this piece began and what was revealed beneath the surface.

Fine banding, natural eyes, mineral inclusions, and subtle fractures remain as part of the stone’s natural character, making this a one-of-a-kind display specimen that cannot be duplicated.

This agate began as a rough piece with little indication of the incredible patterns locked inside. Through careful shaping and polishing, the layers slowly emerged, revealing intricate fortification banding, natural eyes, and rich color contrasts that had been hidden for countless years.

Rather than removing all traces of its origin, I left the backside natural so both the raw and finished character of the stone can be appreciated together. It’s a reminder that some of nature’s most beautiful details are only revealed when given a little patience and care.
