This unique matching pair began as a single river stone collected in Vermont and cut open on the spot beside the water before being brought back to the workshop for shaping and polishing.

Instead of simply polishing flat faces, each half was carefully rounded along the edges by hand on the flat lap while leaving the backs completely untouched and natural from the river. That contrast between the raw exterior and the deep green interior gives these pieces a very organic, natural feel.

The interior revealed layered dark greens, earthy gold tones, and intricate natural patterning that only became visible once the stone was opened and polished. Every angle catches different textures and depth depending on the lighting.

This was a much more time-intensive finish than a standard flat polish, especially while maintaining the natural shape and balance of both halves.
