A beautiful, naturally rounded stone featuring a mixture of deep forest greens, pale mint-green patches, golden-yellow mineral staining, and scattered dark markings.

I polished the front and curved sides to bring out the colors and patterns while leaving the back in its original, weathered condition. That contrast gives this piece a great balance between its natural history and its finished appearance.

What caught my attention with this piece was the variety of colors packed into the same stone. The greens, yellows, and darker patches all blend together in a way that almost resembles a landscape.

I decided to work with its natural shape rather than change it completely. The polished surface really brings out the contrast, while the untouched back still shows what the stone looked like before I started.

That’s something I’ve always enjoyed about polishing rocks. You can take a stone that’s already been shaped by nature and bring out details that weren’t nearly as noticeable before.
