Some of the fractures are incredibly fine while others cut straight across the stone, creating an almost map-like pattern that wraps around the entire piece.

Based on its appearance and the geology of the area, this appears to be altered greenstone or serpentinite-associated metamorphic material, with extensive natural mineral veining and areas of iron staining. Without laboratory testing I can’t give it a definitive mineral identification, but whatever its exact story is, there was a lot happening geologically before this stone ever found its way into my hands.

I shaped and polished the entire stone while following its natural form, bringing it to a smooth, high-gloss finish without taking away the character that made me pick it up in the first place.

Stone Details:

Likely Material: Altered greenstone / serpentinite-associated metamorphic stone
Origin: Vermont, USA
Color: Blue-green, gray, cream, black and golden-yellow
Features: Dense natural fracture and mineral-vein network with possible iron staining
Finish: Hand-shaped and polished to a high gloss
Form: Natural freeform / palm stone
Identification: Visual and geological identification only; not laboratory confirmed
Display stand included with every purchase

The StoneBorn Story:

Every StoneBorn piece begins with a stone that catches my attention in the wild.
