StoneBorn Creations Vermont Greenstone Freeform – Hand-Polished Natural Stone

A piece of Vermont stone with some seriously cool character hiding underneath the surface.

This natural Vermont greenstone has a deep forest and olive-green body scattered with rusty bronze, tan and lighter green mineral inclusions. There are even subtle blue-green areas that show up around the lower edges depending on the light.

I shaped and polished this one completely by hand, working through each stage until the darker surface opened up and all of those little details started showing through. I also left some of the stone’s natural pits, inclusions and imperfections rather than grinding away what makes it unique.

The finished piece has a smooth, high-gloss polish while still looking and feeling like the Vermont stone it started as.

For me, the best part is never really knowing what’s going to show itself until I start removing that outer surface. I work through the grinding, smoothing and polishing stages while trying to keep as much of the stone’s natural character as possible.

This one is especially cool because it comes right here from Vermont — a little piece of the landscape transformed into something completely different while still keeping the character it started with.
