StoneBorn Creations Crazy Lace Agate Freeform – Hand Polished Natural Specimen

This is one of those pieces that seems to have something different going on everywhere you look.

This Crazy Lace Agate was hand worked and polished by StoneBorn Creations, bringing one face to a high-gloss finish while leaving much of the original natural stone intact. The polished surface reveals an incredible mix of tight lace banding, orbicular patterns, swirling formations and pockets of red, cream, gray, white and golden tones.

What really makes this piece stand out are the numerous eye-like formations scattered throughout the face. Some are surrounded by extremely fine concentric bands, while other areas transition into flowing layers of lace and contrasting color.

Rather than completely reshape the specimen, I followed its natural form and preserved the rough matrix along the back and portions of the edge. The contrast between the untouched stone and polished face gives you a look at both sides of the material — how it formed naturally and what was hiding within it.

Every angle has something different to find.

The StoneBorn Story:

I try not to force stones like this into a predetermined shape. Instead, I work with the natural form and remove just enough material to expose what’s underneath.

This one rewarded that approach in a big way. As I worked through the grinding and smoothing stages, more and more of those tiny bands and circular formations started appearing. By the time it reached the final polish, the entire face was packed with detail.

The natural backside was intentionally left alone, preserving part of the stone exactly as it started.
