StoneBorn Creations Hand-Polished Vermont River Stone – Quartz Veins & Natural Iron Staining

A big, substantial Vermont palm stone, found in a stream and polished right beside the water.

This one completely changed once the surface was worked. The dark host rock is broken up by thick white quartz-rich veins, smaller mineral-filled fractures and patches of natural golden-brown iron staining. Turn it over and it almost looks like a different stone—the darker side has one bold vein sweeping straight through it.

I kept the natural shape and rounded contours rather than forcing it into a perfectly uniform form. Its larger size gives it some real presence in the hand, but it also makes a great display piece.

This one was taken straight from a Vermont stream to the lap and polished outdoors beside the water. Underneath that river-worn exterior was a network of old fractures and mineral veins that almost divides the stone into two completely different sides.
