StoneBorn Creations Kentucky Agate Freeform – Hand Polished with Natural Crystal Pockets

This Kentucky agate started as a rugged, fractured piece with only hints of what was hiding underneath. Rather than grinding away all of that natural character, I followed the stone and shaped it around the areas worth preserving.

The finished piece reveals translucent chalcedony in smoky gray, amber, rust-red and earthy brown, along with small areas of intricate agate patterning throughout. Several natural pockets and cavities were intentionally left intact, creating a really cool contrast between the high-polished surfaces and the untouched geology inside.

Turn it in the light and it changes constantly — some areas become almost glassy and translucent while others reveal tiny bands, eyes and pockets that are easy to miss at first glance.

The StoneBorn Story:

This was one of those stones where I really didn’t want to force a shape onto it.

There were fractures, pockets and rough areas everywhere, but there was also beautiful translucent agate running between all of them. So instead of grinding everything smooth, I worked around those features and let the stone decide where the finished shape went.

That left me with something I like a lot more than a perfectly smooth piece. You can still see where this stone came from, but now all of that hidden color and translucency has been brought forward.
