StoneBorn Creations Natural Botryoidal Freeform – Hand Polished with Natural Center

This is one of those pieces where I knew right away I wanted to leave a lot of the natural stone alone.

The center has an incredible botryoidal texture surrounded by natural pockets, banding and subtle earthy colors. Rather than grind all of that away, I worked around the outside by hand, following the existing shape and polishing select areas while leaving the center completely natural.

The finished piece has a really cool contrast between the smooth polished areas and the untouched formations running throughout the stone. Turn it around and there always seems to be another little pocket, pattern or detail to find.

Definitely a one-of-a-kind piece with a ton of natural character.

I try to let each stone determine how far I take the polishing process, and this one had way too much going on naturally to grind everything smooth.

I carefully worked around the pockets and formations, polishing enough to bring out the surrounding patterns while preserving what made the original stone interesting in the first place.

Because the exact mineral variety of this piece has not been confirmed, I’ve chosen not to assign any specific traditional crystal meanings or properties to it.

For me, this piece is simply about appreciating the natural formations and details that were already there.
